I'm sharing with you an effective way to remove oiliness from doll hair.

ATTENTION: The tips here helped me, but it’s not a fact that they will work for you. I don’t know how the hair and headband will behave over time, so be careful with this. Please don’t repeat my mistakes and work with gloves!!!🤩
MX/EAH dolls and some Barbies could not boast of beautiful, greasy hair until a certain point. And the problem was not with the varnish that fixed the hairstyle, but with the glue, which spoiled both the appearance of the roots (they literally “stand up” if you lift them), and left greasy stains on the box, clothes, or simply on the headband of the doll. This is a problem that probably all collectors have struggled with, and everyone managed to somehow cope with it differently.
I’ll say right away: during all the time of collecting, and this has been 11 years, I have tried so many ways that I don’t even have enough fingers. I think many people already know about the method with powder and laundry soap (there will be a post about that later as well), but maybe not everyone knows how to wash off the grease that has settled on the hair and headband 😴
So! To get rid of the grease, we will need:
- a patient (a doll with greasy hair, I have a lot of them);
- warm water;
- liquid soap or shampoo;
- a comb for doll hair;
- gloves;
- and, actually, the main ingredient – a means for washing plates/surfaces from grease (BE SURE TO CHECK IF IT IS NOT AGGRESSIVE FOR YOUR HAIR AND HANDS, OR BETTER WORK IN GLOVES AND VENTILATE THE ROOM);
I have the cheapest remedy from Kopiyochka, but maybe you have another one in your house, so I don’t know if there’s any point in writing about it.🤩
The process is simple: take the patient, undress them and take them to the water. The hair should be thoroughly wet, then pour the remedy on the problem areas, rub it in well so that it is distributed over all the “roots” and can absorb all the grease on the doll’s head. When you’ve done this, rinse the hair very well, apply liquid soap/shampoo, wash the hair well and rinse the foam with water. Comb it so that the parting or hairstyle is back, twist it if necessary. And leave it to dry naturally (my hair dried well overnight)😘
If necessary, if the case is too advanced, you can repeat it after drying, but it came off immediately for me. I don't know how long it will take for the glue to come out again on the roots and rubber, but in general this method took me longer than the method with the powder. BUT! I don't know how rubber, plastic and synthetic hair will behave over time, so I don't know whether to advise you.
But I'm sharing this with you, because it's very difficult with this glue, I know it myself ❤️
