Barbie has once again collaborated with renowned Chinese couturier Guo Pei to create a sparkling couture two-piece inspired by a design from one of her past collections. Dressed in classic Chinese royal blue, this stunning doll features sumptuous dragon embroidery, combining artistic heritage with modern innovation through Guo Pei's signature craftsmanship. Gold earrings, a shiny spectacular ring and gold pumps complete the unusual creation.
Guo Pei is widely known for her intricate and symbolic embroidery, which she weaves into her fashion designs. The final dragon outfit, which symbolizes strength and luck, is truly impressive!
"This year's doll was inspired by a design from one of Guo Pei's past collections," says designer Joyce Chen, who also worked with her on the 2022 doll.
“The intricate embroidery is one of the highlights of this doll,” says Joyce. "We were able to capture all the colors and detailed artwork in this more modern silhouette of traditional Chinese clothing."
