First appeared "Black & White". Then "Metalik" appeared. Now, in 2023, Barbie Looks is back with the boldest fashion statement yet: Color Block.
We asked designer Bill Greening to share with us some highlights about each of the dolls. Below are quotes from our interview with him.
"Deep red curly hair on Victoria's sculpt. Freckles are a first for the line. New shoe sculpt and bright bold mini dress in yellow, purple and red."
Barbie #13 doll features a draped bodice with excess, tucked into a glossy leather miniskirt, and strappy wedges add a pop of blue to the ensemble.
"A fun pouf top hairstyle on Elle's sculpture. A two-tone tube top and flared pants to match. Plus new shoes in bright purple."
In model #14 of this series, Barbie shows off a fitted color-block crop top and high-waisted crimson flared pants. Purple platform shoes peek out from under the cuffs.
"She's cute and sassy. Brown hair with blond highlights on Carl's sculpted face. Two-tone one-shoulder dress. Wearing yellow high heels that give off a 90s/2000s vibe."
Barbie, who is the 15th in the overall series, features a pink and blue one-shoulder midi dress with yellow heels for an ultra-modern look.
"Big blonde curly hair on Andra's face sculpt. Mint top and lavender shorts. And new hot pink wedges."
The fitted silhouette and cut-out at the waist make the doll's outfit mega-fashionable. She sports a ruffled crop top and lavender satin mini shorts paired with ultra-high berry wedge sandals.
"This guy is sporting a new Asian face sculpt, Brandon. Pink pants and a purple tank top. White high heel sneakers."
#17 has close-cropped black hair and well-defined eyebrows. He's wearing a mesh purple sleeveless top, fitted pink pants, and white sneakers.
"It features Ken's new 'Buff Body' made to move doll body. Tate head sculpt with painted beard. Orange and yellow colorblock t-shirt, bright blue shorts, light blue trainers."
#18 has curly brunette hair with a closely shaven mustache and beard. He is wearing an orange and yellow raglan t-shirt, royal blue shorts, and light blue sneakers.
In addition to the main six dolls, for the first time in the history of the Looks collection, this wave includes another doll #19, which is exclusive and created only for members of the Mattel Club.
