Today we have the first of the phenomenal sets from Mattel 2025 on review - a real doll designer You Create Barbie Basics, KIT 001, which consists of three heads, three bodies of different physiques and sets of wigs, clothes, shoes and accessories. All of the above can be mixed together as you like, which gives you the opportunity to use the set as soon as your imagination allows.
But everything in turn ☺️
The dolls arrive in stylish, presentable packaging that can be used to store doll trinkets or as a cabinet in a doll room box. The packaging is closed with Velcro.
On the back of the packaging are examples of mixing the contents of the set, but these are far from all the options🤩
Inside the box we find a certificate of authenticity, which confirms that the dolls belong to Black Label, as well as two-sided color instructions on the contents of the set and how to use them.
Also, the set includes three doll stands with pearl gray podiums. Don't be alarmed if you don't immediately find these podiums attached somewhere to the box, because they are in the bottom, largest "drawer" to the right of the dolls 😉 Also, it should be noted that the stands, surprisingly, are of very high quality, the holders do not move by themselves, and also, one of the holders is designed for a Curvy body, that is, a little wider than the other two.
The You Create Barbie Basics set, KIT 001, includes three doll heads and three Made to Move bodies in different body shapes: Petite, Tall, and Curvy.
But, if you bought a Barbie Basics Model 01, JBH72 doll on a standard MTM body (with a Kit mold) a little earlier, then in the end you will have a complete set of all the MTM body figures of this skintone, which you can easily mix with the heads, because all four bodies are decorated with a new 2025 anchor, which allows you to remove and put the heads on the bodies without any extra effort 😍
We quickly took advantage of this opportunity and transplanted Kit onto a petite body, because for some reason this mold is always associated with this type of physique for our team ☺️
The skintones of all the bodies in the set perfectly match the yoga "bunch" FTG82.
This is what the packaged girls' heads look like at first glance. Next to them we see modified anchors of new bodies with the "Mattel 2025" stamp.
As you may have noticed, Mattel played with the kaleidoscope with the molds and very successfully mixed new faces for us!😁 All the heads in the set are dated 2025.
So, let's get to know the fox Lizzette, the confident Shirl and the alien Reed ❤️🔥
All the heads in the set are completely bald and smooth, and can also boldly boast the perfect shape of the skull and quite neatly pierced ears.
There were many questions about the placement of the casting seams on these heads, because usually these seams were "hidden" under the hair of stitched dolls, but in this case the goal was to create a perfect head under the wig, so yes, the seams are under the chin. There is nothing wrong with them, they look almost imperceptible, but seams are seams, so a personal recommendation from our team - be careful when removing/putting these heads on the bodies, because the seams, although they look reliable, are, one way or another, in the active zone of rubber tension. Who knows how the rubber will behave over time in these places 🤔
The girls' makeup is very high-quality, detailed and original. Each one has its own "highlight" that catches the eye: Lizette's fluffy eyelashes, Shirl's slightly raised eyebrow and Reed's amazingly deep-set eyes ❤️🔥
In addition, it was incredibly pleasant to find perfectly even dolls in the set, all three of them 😍 We hope that this is a pattern, not a coincidence🤞🏻
Let's take a look at what's hidden in the drawers of the set cabinet☺️ By the way, these are just boxes that stand on top of each other, that is, the drawers are not functional.
Each, in a sealed paper bag, contains the little things of the set: podiums for stands, clothes, shoes, wigs, accessories.
Let's start with jewelry 💍
For three girls, we only have one plastic set, consisting of silver earrings without stoppers, a multi-layered pendant, and stylish glasses.
This is how it all looks on girls:
From the clothes in black tones, we have one pair of patent leather pants, two skirts, one jumpsuit, one blouse with mesh sleeves and one T-shirt.
Mostly, the clothes are made of fabric that stretches well, so that they can be used on all body types, but not everything turned out as we wanted.
So, let's consider what and how, starting with the cool patent leather pants with white stitching.
The pants are originally designed for a tall body, the material does not stretch at all, but there is an elastic band sewn into the waist and cuffs, which allows you to put them on a plump body with effort.
On the standard and petite, the pants look good, but with small wrinkles due to the length.
The blouse with silicone straps and mesh sleeves was also clearly designed for a slimmer body, because I had to work hard to fasten the Velcro on the back 😅
But the jumpsuit, on the contrary, does not feel comfortable on the petite body. A very interesting model, which can be used both as a jumpsuit with a skirt/pants, and as a separate swimsuit.
There is a button fastener on the neck, and velcro on the back.
The set also includes a regular T-shirt with Velcro on the back and a long skirt without fasteners, which would look great on a plump body, but on a standard one it looks like in the photo and really needs ironing.
And the last skirt in the set is short, without fasteners, with an interesting seam and a slit in the front.
In this set for girls we have as many as three pairs of very interesting original shoes.
High transparent boots with a thick sole and heels are made of soft plastic. All shoes are deliberately measured for the largest leg of the Tall body, which coincides with the Curvy leg.
The second pair are interesting pointed-toe sandals with shaped heels with a silver letter "B", they sit well on the leg and do not fly off.
The third pair are detailed spiked platform sandals.
And finally, we got to the most interesting thing - WIG! 🤩
We have three pieces in the set: dark straight with bangs, curly blonde and stylish garnet.
The wigs come in protective nets, made on a mesh-fabric base and attached to silicone caps with several stitches, which ensures good adhesion to the dolls' heads.
As for the quality of the wig hair - they are very thick, stiff and unruly, difficult to style, and due to the density, a little extra volume is added even when the wig is tightly pulled onto the doll's head. But, in general, the wigs look interesting and original. And we always have a backup option - just sew these perfect little heads with the hair we need, or in general, in our opinion, some girls really like a bare head☺️
This is how the wigs look on the girls, we had to work so that there were as few sticking hairs as possible.
For the sake of curiosity, we decided to try these wigs on the head of the wig girl Zuri from Integrity Toys. Yes, her head shape is a little different, but thanks to the silicone cap, the wigs fit this girl pretty well, so keep that in mind☺️
