Today we are reviewing the third set of the most modern doll constructors from Mattel for 2025 - You Create Barbie Basics, KIT 003.
This time we have girls with a very dark, sophisticated skintone and, traditionally for this series - with new face sculpts created by mixing the features of the molds already known to us😍
But first things first☺️
The packaging is traditional for the You Create Barbie Basics series of sets: a box-cabinet with Velcro with space for three dolls, drawers with clothes, wigs, shoes, accessories, and introductory information about the creation of this series on the walls and back of the box.
The dolls in the set belong to the Black label, as evidenced by the certificate of authenticity. Also included in the package is a double-sided colored insert that informs us about the means of removing/putting the heads on the bodies and a list of all accessories included in this set (clothes, shoes, jewelry, etc.). We remind you that the dolls of the updated Barbie Basics series have a modified neck anchor, which allows you to easily and without additional manipulations with heating to transplant heads onto any body type in the series.
In the You Create Barbie Basics KIT 003 set, we are greeted by three super-mobile Made to Move bodies: Original (standard), Curvy (chubby) and Petite (teenage). And if you purchased a doll from the single series Barbie Basics Model 03, JBH75 on a Tall body, then you will have a full set of existing MTM bodies of this skintone.
By the way, the skintone of the dolls in this set is quite new, and coincides with the skintone from Elle Barbie Looks HJW81.
In this set, Mattel traditionally surprises us with the appearance of new face sculpts, which were created by mixing the features of the molds already known to us. So, let's get acquainted with Caro, Minh and Rose 🤩
The girls are completely bald with a perfect skull shape, which provides a tight connection with the silicone wig caps.
The casting seams are also present in this series of heads on the chin and, in our opinion, in this skin tone they are more noticeable than in lighter girls.
By the way, during the inspection you should also pay attention to the quality of the bodies. The influxes, the alternation of matte and shiny zones on the bodies are also very emphasized by the shade of the skin tone.
The dolls' makeup is high-quality, non-pixelated, and very harmonious. The original approach to choosing shades and interesting makeup details, such as darker eyeliner and lipstick, are pleasantly surprising, which makes the overall look of the face even more expressive ☺️
The girls have pierced ears, but some of the holes are not in the planned places.
All the treasures of the dolls, such as clothes, shoes, jewelry and wigs, are located in the boxes-drawers of the packaging. It is there (and not traditionally attached to the packaging) that the high-quality doll stands with gray pearlescent podiums are located. The stand holders have different sizes, depending on the body shapes in the set. In our case, we have two standard holders and one larger one, for a plump body.
The jewelry in this You Create Barbie Basics KIT 003 set is "bronze" plastic earrings without stoppers (easy to put on and take off), a stylish necklace, and modern, fashionable sunglasses.

The set of clothes in black colors is no less diverse than in the other two sets. It consists of two tops, a jumpsuit, three skirts and a stylish patent leather jacket.
We remind you that the clothes of all three sets are made of elastic materials or oversized, which allows you to mix clothes with each other to find the most successful images and put clothes on different body types MTM.
The first top has a stylish one-shoulder design and fastens with Velcro on the back.
The second strapless top has a very interesting figured insert made of elastic mesh, which casts a blue-violet hue depending on the light. It fastens with Velcro on the back.
The jumpsuit with shorts is fastened with ties at the neck, and is also made of elastic fabric, so it fits well on different body types. Additionally, it also has a Velcro fastener at the waist.
The first skirt has the same mesh insert as one of the tops, so you can use them as a harmonious set. It fastens with Velcro on the back.
The second skirt is shorter, with a yoke and interesting edges. The imagination of Mattel designers is simply limitless 🤩

The third skirt is very elegant, the main place here is occupied by the same elastic mesh, from which this time a lush falling frill is created on the side of the narrow short base. It looks chic! It fastens with Velcro on the back.
And finally, the star part of the outfit is a black cropped patent leather jacket with white seams and a high pointed collar😍 The material is such that it does not stretch, but the model itself is designed in such a way that the jacket will easily fit any physique. And if you remember that other sets include pants and a top made of the same material - you can put together a stylish set 🔥
The shoes in the set are no less chic than the clothes!😍
What are the detailed black pointed-toe boots with powerful pleats and interesting heels worth? 🔥It's hard not to see the "skin" of these shoes - the model is so well-designed.
Clear plastic sandals with spiral straps look very elegant on doll feet. The heels don't always support the doll's weight and bend a little.
And finally, charming mules with cute bow ties and bronze heels are a very stylish solution.
The most interesting thing ahead is the wigs!😍
In this set, we also have three wigs, made of not very obedient hair, which is difficult to style so that nothing sticks out anywhere. The wigs are sewn onto silicone caps, so they do not fly off and do not move on the dolls' perfectly bald heads. Also, for easy storage, the wigs come in special nets.
The first wig is a dark bob with blue strands. It should be noted that the wigs require additional hairdressing work, because in real life they look far from as perfect as in the super-processed promotional photos🤭 The wig is thick, the blue strands are very nicely "sewn in", but to the touch the wig is stiff and almost does not give in to changes in shape.

The second wig is a fiery afro🔥 A mix of coffee shades combined with small, fun curls and overall volume make this wig one of the most beloved in the set😍
The third wig is a masterpiece from Mattel, inspired by the art of 21st century color. The dark, cold base of the hair is hidden under a blonde cap, blending beautifully into the length of the straight hairstyle. The selected shades perfectly match the dolls' skin tone, emphasizing its warmth.
The wig is gorgeous, but we also have unruly hair, so we're getting ready to reach zen and hold our breath for a few minutes while styling the hairstyle for the photosets 😅
