Review of Barbie Lunar New Year, Mattel, 2023

Today we have in our review another bright representative of the Barbie Lunar New Year series from Mattel, 2023, which will delight fans of Eastern culture in doll format 🎎🪭

As with most of the dolls in this series, the main designer was the talented Joyce Chen, who once again embodied a piece of Eastern traditions in the image of this incredibly cute doll.
This time, the festive look is inspired by the classic Chinese Hanfu robes. The flowing silhouette of the dress is a symbol of the flight of celestial beings, and contains traditional Chinese engravings echoing the woodcut art of the Tang Dynasty. The shades of the dress are taken from the color palette of the ancient Dunhuang rock paintings.
The shawl is an important detail of this image, because in all images of celestial beings you can see a shawl, which reflects the feeling of flight and movement.

The packaging of the doll has a traditionally festive look in bright colors and ornaments, on the reverse side - the history of the series.
The package includes a certificate of authenticity and a white model stand for the doll.
The doll belongs to Black Label.

The girl's image is incredibly bright, and at the same time harmonious and "flying", regardless of the variety of colors, shades, ornaments and textures, and all this once again confirms the perfect taste and genius of Joyce Chen❤️💙🧡

The doll's face was based on the very rare but incredibly cute Olivia mold, which features Asian features and a cute open smile. Light, as if translucent pink shadows of several shades emphasize the girl's brown eyes, and rich lipstick adds festivity, contrasting with light skin and dark shiny hair.
Make-up is non-pixelated.

The girl has a bright and neat manicure to match the lipstick.

The look is complemented by the most authentic comb-jewelry and dangling pearl earrings.
The comb is fixed in the hair with a white thread, and the earrings are easy to remove because they do not have stoppers inside the head.

The doll has amazing, long, soft and shiny solid color hair that is slightly varnished where it is pulled into a hairstyle. Two tight flagella on both sides of the face lead to an equally tight bun on the top of the head, secured with a black silicone rubber band. The parting and firmware of the doll are excellent👍🏼

The shawl is a very long piece of soft tulle with a printed pattern, folded in half widthwise. Very high-quality material that keeps its shape, does not create snags on it, and it looks very expensive.

The upper part of the dress has a complex design, a printed ornament and a combination of several materials. But everything is done with great love and neatness, at least in the front☺️ Small, even seams, the absence of "thick" places in the layering of fabrics, an interesting solution with a flagellum on the belt - all this is incredibly pleasing to the eye😍
But there are some nuances on the back side, they don't seem to interfere, but they should be noted.
Fastening on the back - several plastic buttons and a traditional "tack" with a thread by hand. And it is on the back that there is a visible thick layering of belt elements.
The top of the dress is attached to the doll with two pieces of double-sided tape on the shoulders.

The skirt of the dress has several layers.
The first, upper one, with multi-colored wedges in front and an amazing gradient from red at the bottom to light orange at the waist.
The second is a petticoat made of very soft white fabric.

On the doll's legs are very beautiful red sandals on solid heels with a floral pattern, and with bells on the straps☺️ The shoes fit perfectly on the doll's leg and do not fly off.

As is traditional for the Barbie Lunar New Year series, the doll is built on the slender Model Muse body, which looks very sophisticated, but has only a few basic joints.
