Review of Barbie RBD set, Mattel 2024

Review of Barbie RBD set, Mattel 2024

Today we're reviewing the highly anticipated set of five dolls, released by Mattel to celebrate the reunion of the famous Mexican music group RBD.

RBD is a Mexican Latin, pop rock and pop music band that existed between 2004 and 2009, consisting of Anahi, Dulce Maria, Maita Perroni, Alfonso "Poncho" Herrera, Cristian Chavez and Christopher Von Uckerman. The band resumed its activities in 2020 with four members (without Herrera and Dulce Maria). In 2023, as a five-member band (without Herrera), the band embarked on a four-month long Soy Rebelde Tour 2023 across North and Latin America.

The packaging of the RBD doll set is a bright box with a transparent window, on the back of which you can see the names of all the dolls.
Certificate and stands for dolls are not included in the package.

All doll members of the band received bright images from Mattel, and the girls also received exquisite molds ๐Ÿ˜

So, let's not waste time and get to know each of them in detail:

Mia โญ๏ธ

Let's start with the only and unique blonde with a glamorous star on her forehead ๐Ÿ˜
Meet - this is Mia โœจโญ๏ธโœจ

Created on one of the most beloved molds, "Lina", the bright beauty immediately catches the eye with her sparkling outfit and pink cowboy hat.
The gentle make-up of the doll is made in a powder technique, in which there are almost no clear lines.

The pink hat is made of nice hard rubber and has a very nice shape, fixed on Mia's head with plastic holders.

When Mia did agree to take off the hat for a further inspection - under it was worn, but incredibly chic, densely stitched, unvarnished hair of several shades of blonde.

Of course, the hair can be straightened with boiling water, but we decided to see if Mia's high tail fits, and we were pleased to note that Mia also looks amazing with a high hairstyle๐Ÿคฉ

In Mia's ears are delicate drop earrings without stoppers, which are easily and effortlessly removed.

A brilliant outfit for a girl in a cowboy style is created from a thin lurex fabric and has a very neat execution.
A short top on satin straps is fastened with Velcro.
The stylish flared pants fit perfectly on Mia's delicate frame and also have a Velcro fastening at the back.

On Mia's legs are very stylish and high-quality black ankle boots with wedges and heels.

Alas, and this is without exception for all the dolls in the set, but Mia is created on a regular fixed body, in which there are only a few basic joints.

Of course, such a beautiful girl must have freedom of movement, so Joyce's Made to Move body in a green top, or other bodies of a similar skin tone, are suitable for hybridization.

Roberta ๐ŸŒน

The second girl of the set is fiery and passionate Roberta ๐Ÿ˜

Based on the "Anna/Lara" mold, this girl stands out with her penetrating gaze, fiery hair and stylish rocker outfit.
Roberta's makeup also attracts attention with its quality and detailingโ˜บ๏ธ A very interesting solution is to add a silver piercing to Roberta's nose with paint.

In Roberta's ears are heart earrings with a small stopper, which requires minimal effort to remove (without heating).

Roberta's hair is an explosive combination of red and burgundy hues, beautifully styled but in need of some maintenance in the form of combing and straightening. The bangle is heavily varnished.

Roberta's outfit has a very tasty color combination: the black top on satin crimson straps is made of very thin elastic leatherette, the white stitches are real ๐Ÿคฉ So that the material does not stain the doll's body, the top has a white lining. Fastens with Velcro on the back.
Mesh cuffs complement the rock style of the top.
The petticoat skirt in a small check is decorated with a patent belt sewn to the back of the skirt and a ribbon-stopper from bouncing. It is also fastened with Velcro on the back.

On Roberta's legs are stylish black boots that resemble gladiators, only on heels.

Roberta's body is ordinary, almost motionless, with a few basic joints.

Milly's Made to Move body with a high tail may be suitable for hybridization, but be warned that the skintones of this Milly may vary depending on the release series.
Also, as in the case of Mia, you can see that the girls from the RBD set have small heads, like those of collectible dolls.

Lupita ๐ŸŒท

Our team's favorite is Lupita ๐Ÿ’

It's been a long time since Mattel created beautiful girls on this "Teresa" moldโ˜บ๏ธ And in our opinion, this is one of the most beautiful representatives of this sculpture in recent times๐Ÿ˜
Lupita's sophisticated make-up, like Mia's, is also created using the powder technique.

In Lupita's ears, stone earrings with a small stopper, you have to make a little effort to remove them.

Lupita has very beautiful, shiny, unvarnished dark hair with high-quality embroidery.

A girl's bright dress is pure delight! Thin fabric, perfect fit, detailed elements and quality workmanship๐Ÿ˜ Admire yourself๐Ÿ˜Š

On Lupita's legs are stylish high-heeled boots. Very high-quality and detailed, you can even see the "dog" on the zipper๐Ÿคฉ Stevie Nicks collectible doll had the same boots โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿ”ฅ

The Lupita is also built on a regular oak body with a few basic hinges.

Lupita's skin tone is slightly lighter than Roberta's, but Millie's Made to Move body with a high ponytail might suit her just as well. We emphasize that, depending on the release series, the bodies of yogis may differ even in the same dolls, so it is best to choose a donor for hybridization live.

And, finally, our boys!๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ’™

Giovanni ๐Ÿ’ž

A bright tanned young man with a stylish BoobleGum ๐Ÿฉท hairstyle

Giovanni is a very bright personality, you can even see shadows in his make-upโ˜บ๏ธ
The hair is molded, but very high-quality dyed, with an ombre effect on the temples.
I was a little surprised by the plastic holders in the head with molded hair, which leave visible holes.

Boys' outfits are very different from girls' outfits, primarily in the choice of materials. If for girls it is interesting, thin, unusual fabrics, then for boys the outfit is created from budget options, which we often find in ordinary play dolls. Something rustling, crunchy, oaky.
Giovanni's vest and trousers are made of this material. An interesting element of the vest is as many as two bright ties sewn to the shoulder
The cream t-shirt, fortunately, is made of thin, high-quality knitwear, and is fastened with Velcro on the back.

Giovanni is wearing mega cool, comfortable, high-quality and detailed black and white sneakers ๐Ÿ˜

Just like the girls, the boys in this set are created on stationary game bodies. Only a few basic hinges are present.

According to the skin tone, Giovanni can be divided into two parts ๐Ÿ˜… The body is darker and more similar to Ken the blond on the cart, and the head is a little lighter and fits more to Ken Looks Asian. As a Made to Move donor, you can choose according to your taste and budget.

Diego ๐Ÿ˜Ž

And, finally, the "dark horse" of this set, which was hiding behind dark glasses all the time๐Ÿ˜… It's time to see who is there and which oneโ˜บ๏ธ
By the way, the glasses, although ordinary plastic, are very stylish๐Ÿคฉ

And Diego himself turned out to be indescribably cute!๐Ÿ˜
A good look, a cute smile, stylish black molded curls (also with holes after plastic holders ๐Ÿคจ).
The makeup is powdery, restrained, without "additional" cosmetics.

Diego's outfit is a jacket and pants made of budget crisp fabric. All details of the jacket are either printed elements or simple stickers.
The pants are fastened with Velcro on the back.
The white T-shirt is made of soft thin knitwear.

On Diego's legs are ordinary white comfortable sneakersโ˜บ๏ธ

Diego's body is plain, oak, game, with several basic joints.

In the case of hybridization with the Made to Move body, Diego can be safely called a "golden boy", because in terms of skintone, none other than blond Looks suits him๐Ÿคช๐Ÿ’ฐ But, in our humble opinion, Diego deserves such expenses๐Ÿ˜

The main conclusions after analyzing this wonderful set are as follows:
1. Only one set doll (red-haired Roberta) has non-pixel make-up.
2. Quality outfits only for girls (and only t-shirts for boys).
3. Chic and high-quality shoes for all dolls in the set.
4. All dolls on oak bodies.
5. Surprisingly, there is not a single โ€œcrookedโ€ doll in the set, maybe it was lucky?๐Ÿค”
6. The most expensive for hybridization with MTM is a guy with glasses - Diego (requires blonde Looks).

And what are your impressions of this set? Who liked it? Who doesn't? Who are you planning to add to your collection?
Be sure to write about it in the comments, your thoughts are interesting๐Ÿค—

And finally, some creativity from the Mexican band RBD ๐Ÿ˜Œ
